PRIVACY POLICY

Please respect the privacy of your classmates.  Do not share your password with anyone, not even another classmate who has or has not joined.

DEFINITIONS

The terms “us”, “we”, or “our”, refers to the www.clchs66.com root Administrator, the owner of this Web site.  A “Visitor” is someone that merely browses our Web site.  A “Member” is someone who has joined our Web site.  The term “User” or “you” is a collective identifier that refers to either a Visitor or a Member.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information in two ways:

  1. Information you provide when joining our Web site.  When you do this, we'll ask for some personal contact information, e.g., your name, home mailing address, date of birth, e-mail address, and home telephone and cell numbers.  Additionally, we’ll ask for some profile detail information, which you may opt not to answer.  The personal contact information and profile details together make up your Classmate Profile, which may include a yearbook photo.

Your personal contact information is not visible to anyone, with the following exceptions:

  • All personal contact information is visible to the site Administrators.
  • Your birth date is visible to logged in classmates only when you give permission through your profile preferences.
  • Your City and State of residence is visible to logged in classmates in the Where We Live feature and on your profile page.

You can override the sharing limitations, but the default settings are the most protective of your privacy.  If you do not opt for privacy, not only will your profile be visible to non-members but also your profile will be fully index-able by major search engines and therefore, visible to the world.  Never the less, your personal contact information remains hidden.

  1. Information we get from your use of this Web site (logs and statistics).  We may collect information about which pages you access, when, from where (IP address), and for how long they are viewed.  This information includes:
  • your operating system and Web browser name and version number.
  • the Internet protocol (IP) address for which you are connecting to the Internet.
  • event information such as browser language, the date and time of your request, and referral URL.
  • cookies that may uniquely identify your browser and/or collect and store information necessary to provide the features you are using.
  • list of users and last login date.
  • statistics for messages sent between Classmates.
    • Date and number of messages sent on that date.
  • Notify Me statistics.
    • Frequency preference you have selected to receive e-mail for each option.

INFORMATION WE SHARE

We do not share personal contact information with companies, organizations, and individuals unless one of the following circumstances applies:

  1. With your consent
  1. We may share personal profile information via publicly accessible pages of our Web site when we have your consent to do so.  We require opt-in consent for the sharing of any personal profile information.
  1. For external processing
  1. We may provide personal information to trusted businesses or persons to process for us, based on our instructions and in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.  For instance, information provided through the Event Planner, e.g., making a reunion event payment, to facilitate ACH direct deposit transactions on your behalf through PayPal.  We do not provide personal information to others without your agreement to do so.
  1. For legal reasons
  1. We may share personal information with companies, organizations, and individuals if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:
  • meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
  • enforce applicable Terms of Use, including investigation of potential violations.
  • detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of us, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

You can elect to block the public and search engines from accessing information you add to your Profile page, but logged in classmates can see all information you add to your personal Profile page.  In rare cases, a site member may join under false pretenses and claim to be somebody they are not, i.e., a profile hijacker.  Class Creator provides Administrators tools to combat this such as a New Member Verification feature.  Class Creator does not require the use of the verification feature nor can they assure proper use of the verification feature when enabled.  Therefore, in rare cases a member can pose as somebody they are not.  If you use this site, you acknowledge the possibility of somebody joining the site under an assumed or false identity.  Because of this infrequent but real possibility, you should not post personal information or photos on your Profile page you do not want non-members to see even if you have blocked search engines and the public from accessing your Profile information.  Report suspected false identities to the Administrator using Contact Us.

ENFORCEMENT

We regularly review compliance with our Privacy Policy.  If we receive formal written complaints, we will contact the person who made the complaint to follow up.  We work with the appropriate regulatory authorities, including local data protection authorities, to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of personal data that we cannot resolve with our classmates directly.

CHANGES

Our Privacy Policy may change periodically.  We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent.  We will post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain features, e-mail notification of privacy policy changes).  We will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for your review.

FINDING YOUR PROFILE PAGE BY SEARCHING MAJOR SEARCH ENGINES

If you are signed on to the site and have restricted your profile to only classmates, and then you use a search engine to see if the privacy options described above are working, it will appear that they are NOT.  This is only because you are signed in to the site.  Sign out and check again or try the search from another computer.  You will see that none of your profile information is viewable by non-members.

REMOVAL

Should you not want your name or image on this site, have it removed by contacting the site Administrator through Contact Us.  Once removed, all connection and communication with you from the Crystal Lake Community High School, Class of 1966 ends.
